Preliminary Task
For our Preliminary Task we had to use:
- A match-on-action shot
- The '180 degrees' rule
- A shot reverse shot
When we reviewed our first edit of our Preliminary Task, we looked at what was good and what we could improve on.
Firstly, we thought that the edits between Tilly running were well cut and put together to make it seem realistic that she was running down a corridor (0.01-0.08).
We also thought that the match on action shot of Tilly going through the door was well done.
However, when we had a closer look at the shot reverse shot we realised that we did not take into account the 180 degrees rule, as the camera was behind Tilly's right shoulder (0.17) then behind Louisa's right shoulder (0.18), which makes it look like Tilly was talking to somebody else.
To solve this we went onto our editing programme, iMovie, and reversed the frames where Tilly says "I need to go" (0.17-0.19).
We also used our extra footage to put together a couple of seconds at the end when the toilet door shuts to make the movie more interesting and to emphasise the sense of Tilly's rushing.
